Why use recycled silver?

Silver mining is not eco-friendly. Extraction involves using chemicals including mercury and arsenic. Recycling existing unwanted silver items, is much kinder to the planet.

After much searching, I am now able to source 100% recycled silver from within the UK. I'm delighted to at last be able to offer environmentally-friendly silver.

Are all products  made from recycled silver?

Currently, the silver used in the Rock Pool, Seed Pod, and Bio-degradable Plastic collections, is 100% recycled. The silver used in the Contemporary Classics collection is approximately 50% recycled because I am using existing stocks. When this is depleted, 100% recycled silver will be used (100% recycled items can be made to order, allow about 3 weeks).

Although the parts that I design and create are made from recycled silver, some components such as brooch fasteners and chains, are not made by myself and therefore I cannot guarantee the source of the silver used in these. All hook-style ear-wires are made by myself from fully recycled silver.

I am still searching for a supplier of recycled silver chain and fasteners. Is there a supplier out there? If so, please contact me.

Are the gemstones recycled?

It is difficult to source quantities of recycIed gemstones therefore I use new, semi-precious stones and cubic zirconia (a man-made product). Virtually all of the gemstones I use can be traced back to the mines from which they originated.
